DANVILLE — Danville school district staff, parents and other community members can weigh in on student policy, starting this week.
The Ownership in Education Committee will begin its annual review of the district's Ownership in Education manual, which outlines students' rights and responsibilities and the consequences for breaking the rules. This year's committee will be chaired by Danville High School Assistant Principal Rowdy Fatheree. It will be co-chaired by Edison Elementary Principal Mark Goodwin, South View Middle School Principal Brenda Yoho and South View Assistant Principal Robin Fluno.
The first meeting to review the handbook and recommend revisions will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the library at Danville High School, 202 E. Fairchild St.
Other meetings will be at 6 p.m. on Jan. 10 and Feb. 12 at the high school library. Public forums are scheduled for 6 p.m. March 5 at North Ridge Middle School, 1619 N. Jackson St., and 6 p.m. March 7 at South View, 133 E. Ninth St. A final meeting date will be held in April.
Any proposed changes to the policy must be approved by the Danville school board.
