Teen sentenced to probation, restitution in burglary

An Urbana teen has been sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to make more than $5,700 in restitution after pleading guilty to burglary.

Casanova R. Williams, 17, who listed an address in the 2400 block of Prairie Green, Urbana, admitted that he took items, including collector coins, from a home in the 1200 block of South Vine Street in Urbana on the weekend of June 22-24.

In return for his plea, a more serious charge of residential burglary and other charges of aggravated battery and a juvenile case previously lodged against him were dismissed.

In September, co-defendant Tarrell L. Boatman, 17, of the 0-100 block of Rainbow Court, Urbana, pleaded guilty to residential burglary for the same break-in. He was sentenced to six years in prison with a recommendation for boot camp.
