Teen sentenced to probation for attempted burglary

URBANA — A Collinsville teenager arrested earlier this month for allegedly breaking into vehicles in Urbana has pleaded guilty to attempted burglary.

Austin Soule, 17, was sentenced Monday to a year of probation after admitting that he tried to get in a vehicle on Nov. 11 that was parked at Provena Covenant Medical Center. Two other more serious charges of burglary were dismissed in return for his plea.

Urbana police said a security guard from the hospital spotted Soule inside a pickup truck that day. The security guard had seen him trying the door handles on vehicles about 2:15 p.m. that day.
