Applications available for gifted classes in Champaign schools

CHAMPAIGN — Placement testing applications are now available for students interested in the Champaign school district's gifted classes.

The applications are for students currently in first through fourth grades, and the testing will determine which students are placed in gifted classes next school year.

Applications are available at current Unit 4 students' schools, and parents whose students are in private schools should contact the Gifted Department at the Mellon Administrative Building, 703 S. New St., C., to get an application.

The application deadline for all students is Jan. 11. Completed applications should be sent to Trevor Nadrozny, Director of Curriculum, 703 South New Street, Champaign IL 61820.

The school district will notify parents of private school students about the test time and date after it receives their completed applications. The tests will be scheduled for January and February.

An informational meeting for parents interested in the gifted program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in the board room at the Mellon Center.
