Two from Windsor sought in southern Illinois shooting

DuQUOIN — Illinois State Police need help finding two Shelby County people in connection with a shooting in southern Illinois that happened Monday.

Police are calling John L. Cunningham, 41, and Janet S. Cunningham, 43, of Windsor, who were last seen in the Coles County area, "armed and dangerous."

State police said the Cunninghams are "dangerous persons of interest" who were believed to be involved in the shooting of a man near the Lake Egypt area in Johnson County in far southern Illinois Monday.

The man who was shot has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Police are also looking for a stolen 1988 Gray Dodge Dakota Pick-Up truck with a black topper — Illinois registration 38392W.

Anyone with any information about these persons of interest is urged to immediately contact state police at 618-542-2171, ext. 1202, or 911.

Janet S. Cunningham, who has used the alias Janet S. Lawhorn in the past, was convicted in Coles County with her ex husband of three counts of child pornography in 2004 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. 
John and Janet Cunningham are believed to be armed and dangerous. Both subjects are classified as sexual predators by the state of Illinois. Police say both subjects were last seen in the Coles County area, and possibly driving a stolen 1988 Gray Dodge Dakota pickup with a black topper, with Illinois registration 38392W.
