Rardin man dies in crash in Douglas County

RARDIN— A Rardin man died in a crash in Bowdre Township in Douglas County late Thursday afternoon.

Douglas County Coroner Joe Victor said that Ora Dwayne Ard, 68, of Rardin was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash about a quarter-mile north of the Douglas/Coles County Line on County Road 1965 E at 5:27 p.m. Thursday.

Victor said his office was notified of the crash at 4:54 p.m. Thursday.

Victor said Mr. Ard was the driver of a 2000 Ford F150 that left the pavement and crashed to the side of the road.

Victor said the primary cause of death was blunt force trauma of the head. An autopsy will not be conducted, he said.

The coroner’s office was assisted at the scene by the Douglas County sheriff’s office, the Hindsboro Fire Department and Oakland Ambulance.
