Champaign County coroner identifies man who died in a shooting in Decatur

URBANA — Champaign County coroner has identified a man who died in Urbana after being shot in Decatur on Sunday.

Duane Northrup said that Isaiah Wiley, 21, of Decatur, was the victim of a shooting Sunday afternoon in Decatur.

According to a police report, officers received a report of multiple gunshots fired in the 400 block of East Waggoner Street in Decatur at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

After police found Mr. Wiley with multiple gunshot wounds, he was first taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital and was later transferred to the emergency room at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Northrup said Mr. Wiley was pronounced dead at 4:55 p.m. Sunday in the emergency room.

He said the preliminary results of an autopsy performed on Monday in Urbana indicated that Mr. Wiley died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The death is under investigation by the Champaign County coroner's office and the Decatur Police Department.
