DANVILLE — The man who was killed Sunday in Danville has been identified as Scotty L. Polk.

Preliminary autopsy results show the 19-year-old Danville man, who was found lying on the street on Sunday evening, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson.

"We're continuing to talk to people and work the case," Public Safety Director Larry Thomason.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, he added late Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the area of Lape and Fairweight streets at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A man who was walking in the area said he heard what he described as someone groaning and discovered Mr. Polk.

He was taken to Presence Hospital in Danville and pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are asking for anyone with information about this incident to contact them 431-2250 or Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
