12-year-old hit by car on Prospect

CHAMPAIGN— Police said a 12-year-old boy was treated at an area hospital and released after being injured when he was hit by a vehicle in Champaign on Tuesday afternoon.

Champaign Police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said the vehicle hit the boy at 3:11 p.m. in the 800 block of North Prospect Avenue, which is between Harvard and Tremont streets.

Dunn said that witnesses told police that the boy ran out into traffic before he was hit by the vehicle.

Dunn said the boy had minor injuries. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.

No tickets were issued to the 28-year-old driver, who was not identified by police.
