CHAMPAIGN — Before you pick up breakfast or lunch at a drive-through Wednesday, thousands of Champaign County kids are counting on you to give something away at a special drive-through that day at Carle.
The Carle/Salvation Army toy drive that got under way in mid-November will wrap up later this week.
But before it does, the organizers will hold an all-day, drive-through toy collection Wednesday at Carle's 1802 S. Mattis Ave., C. facility.
"We are on track to provide what we're hoping to the Salvation Army, but we definitely need the community to come out in full support to the drive-through event," said Carle spokeswoman Kelli Anderson. "There are 1,800 families, which includes 3,000 children, registered through the Salvation Army, so we definitely need all the toys we can get."
To participate, bring a new, unwrapped toy, a gift card or cash donation to the drive-through from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday to the drive-through.
There will be prizes given away to some of the first donors by Lite Rock 97.5's Mike in the Morning.
The toy drive is a community service project of Carle and WDWS/WHMS/WUIL.
