Man arrested for taking wallet

CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign teenager who allegedly robbed another man of his wallet Thursday was arrested Friday.

Champaign police Sgt. Dave Griffet said officers located Malik Frazier, 17, who listed an address in the 600 block of East Beardsley Avenue, Champaign, at the READY School in Champaign, where he is a student.

Griffet said just after 7 p.m. Thursday, a 24-year-old man reported that Frazier entered his home in the 700 block of West Hill Street in Champaign and took his wallet from him.

Griffet said the resident knew Frazier. Police had been looking for Frazier since the Thursday night report.

Police arrested Frazier on preliminary charges of residential burglary and robbery. The state's attorney's office will make a decision on formal charges Monday.
