Power restored in Rantoul

Power restored in Rantoul

UPDATED:  12:45 PM

Rantoul village officials say power there has been restored.  They say the outage was caused by power lines that were rubbing against each other.

Rantoul village officials say most of the community does not have electricity at this hour.  They say power went out about noon, and the outage has affected the phones at the Rantoul Public Works Department, as all of those lines are down.

Local officials and officials with Ameren say they don't know what caused the outage.  There's no word on when power could be restored.
