Sheriff's office investigating St. Joseph vehicle burglaries

ST. JOSEPH — Champaign County sheriff’s deputies are looking into reports of several vehicle burglaries in St. Joseph that happened earlier this week. Most were reported Tuesday.

Sgt. Dan Coile said someone entered an unlocked car in the 400 block of Laurel Drive between 9 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday. A GPS was stolen from the  glove compartment and change taken from the console for a total loss of $105.

In the 400 block of Linden Drive, an unlocked Jeep SUV in a driveway was entered between noon Sunday and 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. Items stolen from it included a garage door opener, iPod, two docking stations and a satellite radio system for a total loss of $472.

Lt. Ed Ogle said deputies also received an additional six reports Tuesday for vehicle burglaries in the 700 block of Wingstem Drive; the 400 block of Sherwood Drive; the 600 block of Rosewood Drive; the 1500 block of Locust Drive; a second burglary in the 400 block of Laurel Drive; and one in the 600 block of Northgate Drive.

Anyone with information on any of the burglaries is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 384-1213 or Crimestoppers at 373-8477.
