Atwood police chief says reported Christmas Eve robbery didn't happen

ATWOOD — Atwood Police Chief Rob Bross says an initial report of a robbery in that community on Christmas Eve turned out to be false.

According to a police report, officers were called to a business in the 100 block of North Main Street, Atwood, at 9:41 p.m. Monday to respond to a report of a robbery.

Bross said police were initially told that somebody walked into the building and demanded cash. No weapon was displayed or implied. An employee reportedly gave cash to the person, who left the building.

“Further investigation showed that the reported robbery complaint was false,” Bross said. “At no time were citizens in any danger.”

Bross said no other information is available at this time. He said the report has been forwarded to the Douglas County state’s attorney’s office.
