Illini Farm Toy Show set to begin Friday in Urbana

URBANA — An annual farm toy show sponsored by young farmers in the area will be held next week.

The Illini Farm Toy Show, from Friday through Jan. 6 in the Holiday Inn in Urbana, features a variety of exhibitors showing and selling their toy collections. It is sponsored by the Illinois Farm Bureau District 12 Young Leaders and young farmers committees from Vermilion, Douglas, Edgar and Champaign Counties.

About 40 different exhibitors from Illinois and neighboring states will be displaying and selling farm toys.

The show will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 5, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 6 and will take place at the Holiday Inn, 1003 W. Killarney St., U.

Trading in individual exhibitor hotel rooms will likely continue after hours on both Friday and Jan. 5.

Admission to the show on Friday and Jan. 5 is $3 for adults and $2 for those from 6 to 12 years old; children under 6 are free.

Admission on Jan. 6 is free, with donations for the Ag in the Classroom program being accepted. Tickets can be bought at the door.

A live farm toy consignment auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 5. People other than exhibitors are invited to consign a toy.

Those wishing to enter toys in the auction should bring their toy to the hotel Friday evening between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
