Arrest made for possession of more than 11 pounds of cannabis

URBANA — An Urbana man is expected to be formally charged Wednesday with cannabis trafficking after his arrest Monday by Champaign County sheriff’s deputies.

Cary N. Kallembach, 47, who listed an address in the 3700 block of North Cunningham Avenue was arrested in the 500 block of Elm Street in Champaign on Monday.

He was being held on a preliminary charge of possession with intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of cannabis.

Although sheriff’s deputies declined to give any details of their investigation into Kallembach’s arrest, the charge for which he was arrested suggests that Kallembach allegedly had more than 11 pounds of cannabis intended for sale.

Judge Arnold Blockman set his bond Tuesday at $100,000. He remained in the county jail Tuesday.
