Man sent to prison for burglary

URBANA — A Champaign man who admitted he entered a store in Rantoul intending to steal was sentenced Monday to three years in prison.

Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis agreed to recommend Cedric T. Sampson, 22, of the 1600 block of West Bradley Avenue, for participation in the Department of Corrections' boot camp program. If accepted, he could complete his sentence in 120 days.

Sampson pleaded guilty to burglary, admitting he went in the Walmart at 845 Broadmeadow Road in Rantoul on Dec. 15, intending to steal a bottle of liquor. A second count of theft was dismissed in return for Sampson's guilty plea.
