DSC fund drive nears completion

CHAMPAIGN — Developmental Services Center is inviting the public to a Tree of Hope tree-lighting ceremony Jan. 15, as it nears the end of its fundraising campaign.

The agency had raised $121,000 as of Wednesday, said Janice McAteer, DSC director of development.

That leaves $9,000 for DSC to raise to reach its $130,000 goal by the end of January.

The ceremony, set for 4 p.m. Jan. 15 at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Marketview Drive, will include the lighting of 153 new bulbs on the Tree of Hope to reflect donations from a recent fundraiser that brought in $6,380, according to DSC.

The agency provides services to people with developmental disabilities in Champaign, Ford, Piatt and Iroquois counties. The Tree of Hope campaign each winter holiday season is its major fundraiser of the year.
