Man charged with trespass after break-in

URBANA — A Champaign man who allegedly broke in to the home of his ex-girlfriend early Monday is due back in court March 19.

Rodolfo Garcia-Orozco, 34, who listed an address in the 0-100 block of Magnolia, was arrested early Monday at a home in the 400 block of Scottswood Drive.

Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Dan Coile said the couple living at that home called police about 12:15 a.m. because Garcia-Orozco was pounding on their door and later a bedroom window, asking to be let in.

As the woman's husband was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher, the dispatcher could hear glass breaking, Coile said.

The couple told deputies that Garcia-Orozco broke a kitchen window and climbed inside. He then knocked the phone out of the man's hand.

When deputies arrived, Garcia-Orozco was on the floor bleeding. There had been a struggle and he was intoxicated, Coile said. It appeared his injuries came from him crawling through the broken window. The man living there was not hurt, Coile said.

Deputies found a machete by Garcia-Orozco's car.

Garcia-Orozco was charged Monday with felony criminal trespass to residence.

He was ordered to have no contact with the couple. His bond was set at $50,000.

Hey vcponsardin,

He had a machette in or near his car... how should a law abiding citizen protect himself against such a weapon ? Oh wait... he did leave it by the car. I'm sure that he did this because he realized that his target victim was unarmed.
