CHAMPAIGN — City officials are seeking nominations for their fourth annual STAR Awards program, which recognizes groups and individuals who help improve Champaign neighborhoods.
Nominators for the STAR program — Service Together Achieves Results — have until Feb. 25 to recommend community members who volunteer their time and resources to assist in building neighborhoods.
Citizens can nominate individuals or groups in eight different categories: Neighborhood Leadership, Neighborhood of the Year, Neighborhood-Community Building, Business-Neighborhood Partnership, Good Neighbor Award, Community Partner, Difference Maker and Rising Star.
Nominations will be reviewed by the city's neighborhood services advisory board, and winners will be recognized during the STAR Awards Expo later this year. The service or deed must have occurred in Champaign during the 2012 calendar year.
Citizens can submit STAR Award nominations to the neighborhood services department until Feb. 25 by going to http://www.ci.champaign.il.us/star, or by using the nomination forms located at the city's neighborhood services department.
Those forms can be mailed or hand delivered to the neighborhood services department at 102 N. Neil St.
