Man treated after SUV rollover near St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH — A Tolono man was being treated at an area hospital after being ejected from his sport utility vehicle Friday morning.

Champaign County sheriff’s deputy Carey Schalber said the accident happened about 8:45 a.m. about a mile south of St. Joseph on County Road 2200 E.

Dustin Buchholz, 23, of Tolono, was driving north near 1500 N and was passing a car. When he went to get back in the driving lane, he lost control of his SUV. It went into the adjacent field and rolled several times, coming to rest on its roof.

Schalber said Buchholz was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown out but was up walking around at the accident site by the time he arrived.

Buchholz was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was being treated at mid-day.

Schalber said Buchholz was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, not wearing a seat belt, and driving with a revoked license.
