Urbana man, second suspect sought in break-in

CHAMPAIGN — An Urbana man who allegedly possessed items stolen from a Champaign home is due to return to court Wednesday.

Alonzo Moore, 19, who listed an address in the 1600 block of East Florida Avenue, was arrested Friday morning by Champaign police for residential burglary and possession of stolen property.

Sgt. Dave Griffet said officers were sent to the 1000 block of West Bradley Avenue about 9 a.m. Friday for a report of two suspicious men carrying a flat-screen television and a backpack.

They began checking houses in the nearby 1000 block of Northwood Drive and found one that had been broken into. Their investigation took them to a home in the 1000 block of West Bradley Avenue, where they made contact with the owner and found property that did not belong there, including a flat-screen TV and other items that had come from the Northwood Drive address.

Griffet said Moore was arrested and police are looking for the second person. Moore was released from jail Saturday on his own recognizance. The state's attorney's office is expected to review the report Wednesday and decide what charges, if any, to file.
