Fisher junior high move may be delayed
FISHER — Officials still hope to move Fisher junior high students into the new school addition the first week of February.
But a delay in obtaining the countertop for the new science lab may push back the scheduled inspection by the Champaign-Ford Regional Office of Education set for Jan. 29 and subsequently the move. The facility must be inspected before students can be moved in.
One of the projects yet to be completed is site work where a portable classroom sits. The board agreed to sell the 13-year-old building by sealed bid with the stipulation it be moved by the buyer by March 1. The district will take care of utility disconnections and other preparations for moving the building.
Site work to be done includes grading, seeding and laying down sidewalk.
Superintendent Barb Thompson also updated the school board this week on progress of the all-weather track and bleacher project that is being funded mainly by donations. The track will be complete for the start of the 2013 football season. But the group behind the project has not secured the money to replace the bleachers. So the planned completion for that portion of the project is set for August 2014.
