School holds fundraiser for soup kitchen

CHAMPAIGN — The High School of St. Thomas More is hosting an Empty Bowl supper from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 7, at its school at 3901 N. Mattis Ave., C.

For the event, the high school's art department and art club are pairing with Destihl Restaurant and Brew Works to raise money for the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.

The meal will feature soup served in bowls made by art club students, as well as parents, friends and school staff members.

The suggested donation for a bowl and meal is $10, and those who attend will take their bowls home. Suggested donation for the meal alone is $5, and additional donations are also welcome.

Students will perform music and drama, read poetry and dance at the supper. The school is also hosting junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games that evening.
