Police investigate hit-and-run crash

CHAMPAIGN — Police are investigating an hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist in Champaign.

According to a police report, a 25-year-old Champaign resident was riding a bicycle in the 2600 block of West John Street at 1:40 p.m. Friday and was passing a parked vehicle when another vehicle hit him and knocked him to the ground.

The vehicle, reported to be a white Hyundai Sonata with the passenger side mirror missing, immediately drove away.

While the bicyclist was reported to be hurt, police said he refused medical treatment at the scene.

Police said the identity of the bicyclist was not available on Friday evening.
