Urbana students to present 'Almost, Maine'

URBANA — The Urbana High School Theatre Department will present evening performances of the play "Almost, Maine" from Wednesday to Saturday and a matinee next Sunday in the newly remodeled Urbana High School Cobb Auditorium.

The romantic comedy, written by John Cariani, takes place in the fictional town of Almost, Maine, and centers on nine story lines. They all take place on a clear, cold and moonless evening in the middle of winter.

"The Northern Lights hover in the star-filled sky above, and residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways," reads the news release from the high school. "Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found and confounded. But the bruises heal and the hearts mend — almost — in this enchanting midwinter night's dream."

Curtain time will be 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the high school, 1002 S. Race St., with the doors opening 30 minutes before showtime. Tickets are $8 and may be reserved in advance by emailing tbroeker@usd116.org or calling 384-3505.
