Danville man shot to death; police seek more information

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old Danville man on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 900 block of Lewis Lane, in the Fair Oaks public housing complex, around 11 p.m. for a call of shots fired in the area. They found the man, who had been shot, lying on the ground.

In a release, Thomason said information from neighborhood residents is “sketchy at this point.” However, he said, witnesses said that several people may have been involved in a confrontation that resulted in the shots being fired.

Thomason said the victim was taken to a Danville hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson’s office will release his name after family members have been notified.

Thomason urged anyone with any information about the shooting to contact Danville police at 431-2250 or Vermilion County Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
