ID theft brings prison sentence

URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted he committed financial identity theft has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.

Shaunte Adkinson, 30, whose last known address was in the 1700 block of East Florida Avenue, pleaded guilty Wednesday before Judge Harry Clem to financial identity theft with a prior theft conviction.

He admitted that on Sept. 20, he used the credit card of an Urbana woman at stores on Washington Street and Philo Road in Urbana.

He was given credit on his sentence for 138 days already served in jail.

Assistant State's Attorney Scott Larson said besides theft convictions, Adkinson had previous convictions for possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated battery.
