Man sentenced to prison for indecent solicitation of a child

URBANA — An Urbana man who admitted trying to get a child to perform a sex act with him has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Elbert G. Chase, 54, whom court records described as homeless, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Champaign County Judge Heidi Ladd to indecent solicitation of a child.

He admitted that on Oct. 29 he solicited a boy under the age of 13 to commit a sex act. The proposition occurred at the child's home in Ludlow Township where Chase came to visit the family.

Court records show Chase had a 2000 conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
