Danville alderman arrested for missing hearing on Coles traffic ticket

DANVILLE — A Danville alderman posted bond Monday after Danville police arrested him Saturday on a traffic warrant out of Coles County, according to Public Safety Director Larry Thomason.

Alderman Kevin Davis, Ward 1, was arrested by Danville police officers at his 613 Jewell St. residence Saturday morning after he had called to make a complaint about an unrelated matter, Thomason said. Officers were going to meet with Davis about his complaint and did a routine check and discovered the Coles County warrant. The officer had to take the appropriate action on the warrant and arrest Davis at his home around 10 a.m., Thomason said.

The warrant stems from Davis missing a hearing on a traffic ticket issued in Coles County in late 2012 for driving on a suspended license, Thomason said. The warrant was issued in late January, he added. But Thomason said he did not know why Davis’ driver’s license is suspended.
