Winter weather advisory issued for East Central Illinois

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Ford and Iroquois Counties from 6 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday.

In those areas, snow accumulation of three to five inches and ice accumulation of one-tenth of an inch are expected.  A period of heavy snow with rates of one inch per hour is expected late Thursday night.

Meanwhile, a winter weather advisory has been issued for the rest of East Central Illinois from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday.  In these areas, one to three inches of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice is possible.  Heavy winds will also lead to blowing snow.

So you should plan your travel accordingly, and when you are driving, you should be prepared for slick conditions and to slow down.
