Weather advisory issued for Ford, Iroquois counties

The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for Ford and Iroquois counties.

According to the weather service, a brief period of icy weather is possible through Tuesday morning, with a chance that the precipitation could begin as a period of freezing rain or sleet. According to the weather service, the freezing rain could result in hazardous driving and walking conditions.

Meanwhile, the Ameren Illinois Emergency Operations Center has declared a weather alert in anticipation of Tuesday’s winter storm.

According to a written release from Ron Pate, Ameren Illinois vice president of operations and tech support, all Ameren Illinois and contractor personnel have been placed on alert.
