Champaign man sentenced to probation for aggravated criminal sexual abuse

URBANA — A Champaign man who admitted engaging in a sex act with a teenage girl has been sentenced to three years of probation.

Aramis Booker, 23, whose last known address was in the 2600 block of West Springfield Avenue, was also sentenced Monday to 120 days in jail but given credit for time already served.

In January, Booker pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in connection with a sex act with a 14-year-old Urbana girl in early November of 2011. In exchange, other charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault were dismissed. As part of his negotiated plea agreement, which was confirmed Monday by Judge Heidi Ladd following a sex offender evaluation, Booker must also register as a sex offender and have no contact with the girl.
