Man hospitalized following stabbing in Urbana

UPDATED 9 a.m. Tuesday

URBANA — Police are investigating a stabbing Monday evening in Urbana.

Urbana police Sgt. Dan Morgan said officers were called to the 800 block of North Busey Avenue at 6:33 p.m. Monday, where a 42-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and on the neck.

He was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was being treated for a collapsed lung and for what he described as a superficial cut to the neck.

Morgan said there were six people present in the home when the stabbing happened and police are trying to sort out the statements of the witnesses. The person believed to have stabbed the man is a male.

No arrests have been made.
