Savoy commission backs assisted-living facility

SAVOY — Members of the planning commission were all in favor of moving forward with a proposal to build The Villas of Hollybrook, an assisted-living, independent-living and memory care facility within a currently undeveloped area of the Lake Falls Subdivision.

Reggie Phillips, who currently owns four other similar facilities throughout Illinois, including one in Monticello, plans to construct the "state of the art" facility as soon as possible.

The first phase of the new community would include a 50-unit assisted-living facility and a 32-unit licensed memory care facility, as well as a therapy pool, a theater and attached garages with heated walkways. The second phase would add another 25 units of assisted living and roughly 133 units of independent living for residents age 55 and older, including full dining service.

The facility would be located at the southwest corner of the Lake Falls Subdivision, near the intersection of U.S. 45 and Airport Road. Village officials are still working with the developer and owner of the neighboring property on the layout of the facility, including the location of a proposed pond.
