Decatur man charged in Champaign cannabis case

URBANA — A Decatur man arrested in Champaign early Monday for allegedly having cannabis was told to be back in court next month.

Chad Laswell, 27, was charged Monday with possession with intent to deliver cannabis and possession of cannabis.

Assistant State's Attorney Lindsey Clark said Laswell was stopped near University Avenue and Wright Street about 3:10 a.m. for an alleged traffic violation.

His vehicle smelled of cannabis, Clark said. Police found a glass pipe in the car and four plastic bags containing about 3 1/2 ounces (101 grams) of cannabis, she said.

He was told to be back in court April 23.
