Rantoul woman resentenced to prison

URBANA — A Rantoul woman who failed to live up to the terms of her probation was resentenced Monday to 4 1/2 years in prison.

Mary E. Romero, 47, who listed an address in the 500 block of North Penfield, was resentenced by Champaign County Judge Heidi Ladd for a 2010 conviction for misuse of a credit card.

Assistant State's Attorney Scott Bennett said Romero admitted in December that she violated her probation. He said she missed several scheduled appointments with her probation officer after being placed on probation in January 2011, tested positive for the use of the drugs and failed to seek treatment for drug abuse issues.

Bennett said Romero had a prior conviction for domestic battery.
