CHAMPAIGN — The Construction Engineering Research Laboratory in Champaign will host a training workshop March 19-21 for local teachers.
The workshop will teach them how to work with Material World Modules and National Center for the Advancement of STEM Education kits.
The kits "apply real-world problems to what students learn in the classroom," according to a news release.
The workshop, funded by the National Defense Education Program, is free for participants, who will also earn 24 Continuing Professional Development Units from the Illinois Board of Education. Attendees will also receive a stipend.
Science and math teachers for sixth through 10th grades are eligible to participate.
The National Center for the Advancement of STEM Education will lead the classes, with assistance from CERL's researchers.
The deadline to register for the workshop is March 11. Registration space is limited. For more information, please contact John Mudrick at 217-373-4570 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
