Champaign man arrested for home invasion

URBANA — A Champaign man is being held at the Champaign County Jail on $50,000 bond in connection with a home invasion on Sunday afternoon.

Jordan Brooks, 25, who listed an address in the 1700 block of West Clark Street, Champaign, pleaded innocent on Monday to one count of home invasion, one count of criminal trespass to a residence and one count of battery.

According to a police report, Brooks was in a previous dating relationship with a woman who lived in the 800 block of West Maple Street in Champaign.

The woman saw him pull into her driveway at 3:07 p.m. Sunday and locked her front door. Police said Brooks broke down the front door, entered the home and chased her out of the house.

The woman then ran back into the house, locked the door to her bedroom and called 911. Police said Brooks broke the bedroom door, pushed her into a closet, hit her on the face, arms and back, and pulled her hair.

The woman got away and ran back outside.

Brooks was returning to his vehicle as police arrived to arrest him.

Police said the woman had scratches on her arm and bruises on her forehead, but she refused medical treatment.

Brooks' next court appearance was set for May 7.
