URBANA — A man who allegedly had drugs and a loaded weapon in his home Monday was charged in Champaign County Circuit Court Tuesday with two Class X felonies.
Champaign County sheriff's Lt. Ed Ogle said deputies arrested Brionte Howard, 23, after serving a search warrant in the early morning hours Monday at his home in the 1000 block of Crescent Drive in Champaign.
Deputies obtained the search warrant after investigating Howard for alleged drug activity. In his home, they found 2.6 grams of crack cocaine, just under a gram of powder cocaine, just under 3 grams of cannabis and $915 cash. They also found a loaded revolver, Ogle said.
Howard was charged with armed violence and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Court records show that Howard has two pending drug-related cases from 2011 in which he had been scheduled to plead guilty on April 1.
