Fisher school board honorably dismisses five

FISHER — The school board honorably dismissed five employees at its regular meeting this week.

They are aides Denise Novak, Christina Latham, Renee Houholin and Dan Pentti and bus monitor Janet Deer. Superintendent Barb Thompson said the employees have done a great job for the students. She anticipates recalling most, if not all, prior to the next school year, depending on the needs of our students.

Thompson said the board is looking again at reduced funding from the state. She said general state aid will be at 82 percent of what full funding was several years ago, and that transportation funding will be at only 25 percent of what it was back then.

"It's another hit," Thompson said. "I don't know what they want us to do."

Also the board hired Cybernautic of Bloomington to redesign the district's website for $5,400. Then the district will pay $180 monthly for Cybernautic to maintain it. Under the new system, the school administrators will be able to update their portions of the site from their smart phones and tablets, no matter their physical location.
