CHAMPAIGN — Local candidates in four contested races for the April 9 election will answer questions in front of an audience and television cameras on Wednesday.

Candidates for Urbana mayor, Champaign City Council District 1, City of Champaign Township Supervisor and the Parkland College Board of Trustees are scheduled to appear during a forum at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the Champaign City Building, 102 N. Neil St.

Candidates for Urbana mayor include incumbent Democrat Laurel Prussing and her Republican challenger, Rex Bradfield.

Incumbent Will Kyles and his challenger, Gina Jackson, are competing for the Champaign City Council District 1 seat.

Incumbents James Ayers and Tom Bennett and challenger Sam McGrew are competing for two seats on the Parkland College Board of Trustees.

The forum, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County, the Champaign County NAACP and The News-Gazette.

Coordinator Carolyn Casady Trimble said on Tuesday that the forum will include candidates for City of Champaign Township Supervisor: incumbent Pam Borowski and her challenger, Andy Quarnstrom.

The township candidates will go on first, at 6:45 p.m., she said.
