RURAL TOLONO — An Urbana man was injured Tuesday after he allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in rural Tolono.

According to a state police report, Ryan D. Rush, 28, who listed an address in Urbana, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt north on Interstate 57 when he fell asleep near mile marker 226 west of Tolono at 6:02 p.m.

His car went off the highway, crashed into a ditch, rolled over multiple times and landed in a field.

Rush was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where he was treated for what police described as non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Police ticketed Rush for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.
