Conference scheduled April 13 in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — The Chosen Ministry, an orphan care and adoption ministry of First Christian Church in Champaign, will host the Chosen for Life: Mercy for the Orphan conference April 13.

The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the church, 3601 S. Staley Road, C.

A lunch will be available for purchase upon registration. Lunch is catered by Biaggi's and will cost $8. Limited child care will also be available; lunch for children is $4.

The conference will have breakout sessions on why the church should care for the orphan, the forgotten child in our community, foster care, general information about adoption, how you can afford adoption, a session specifically designed for dads, as well as post-adoptive parenting topics such as attachment and bonding and parenting the traumatized child.

The keynote speaker will be Daniel Bennett, a pastor, author, father and orphan advocate who is passionate about the church caring for the orphan.

The conference will also include exhibits from various organizations, adoption agencies, foster care agencies and mentoring programs.
