Man faces sex charges
CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign man who allegedly sexually assaulted a young woman in his home last week has been criminally charged with multiple criminal counts.
Champaign police Lt. Bob Rea said his department was notified Wednesday by authorities at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where the teen went to be checked out after an assault that allegedly happened days earlier.
After interviewing her, police arrested Jamie Huesca-Olea, 27, of the 0-100 block of Raintree Drive, about 5 p.m. Rea said.
On Thursday, he was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse for acts that allegedly occurred on March 14.
Rea said the alleged victim, a teen, was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center in Urbana.
If convicted of the most serious of the felony counts, Huesca-Olea faces penalties ranging from six to 30 years in prison.
Judge Richard Klaus set Huesca-Olea's bond at $500,000 and told him to be back in court with a lawyer on April 4.
