Domestic dispute brings drug charge

URBANA — A domestic dispute between an Urbana man and woman led police to a small cache of cocaine Thursday.

Urbana police officer Matt Quinley said officers received a call about 10:15 a.m. Thursday that a woman was chasing a man with a knife at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of East Florida Avenue, Urbana.

Quinley said police found Blake J. May, 27, of that address, in the parking lot. While they were talking to him, the woman came out of the building allegedly carrying a knife.

Quinley said police learned that May was on parole for a Macon County 2009 conviction for bringing contraband into a penal institution. Because he was on parole, they searched him.

Quinley said they found 15 bags of suspected powdered cocaine and four bags of crack cocaine with a total weight of 12 grams on May. Police then got permission to search the apartment where May and Ebony Lee were living and found another 3 grams of powder cocaine, drug packaging materials, and a digital scale, Quinley said.

May was arrested for and later charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. If convicted of the Class 1 felony, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The woman was also arrested for aggravated assault but Assistant State’s Attorney Steve Ziegler said he declined to charge her because of May’s lack of credibility,

What a corrupt, no good, skunk the states attorney is. The woman is seen by the cops with a knife, but he won't charge her. If it had been a man with a knife, he would have been shot down by the cops. He refuses to bring charges on the grounds that the guy is not credible! So I suppose that every woman who brings charges is a saint? Just publish her name and let the public handle it. No wonder men are afraid to report domestic abuse. You government people make me SICK.
