Two teens injured in crash in rural Douglas County

UPDATED 5:45 p.m. Wednesday

CAMARGO — Two teenagers were reported injured in a single-vehicle accident in rural Douglas County late Tuesday afternoon.

Douglas County Chief Deputy Peter Buckley said that a 16-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were in a vehicle that crashed into a tree at 675 N County Road 1760 E, south of Camargo, at about 5:24 p.m. Tuesday.

The girl was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, and the boy was taken to Carle by ambulance, Buckley said.

Both were treated and released for what Buckley described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Buckley said the boy, who was not identified because he is a minor, is being ticketed failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The crash is under investigation by the Douglas County sheriff’s office.
