East Green Street in Champaign reopens after water main break

Updated 4:05 p.m. Wednesday

CHAMPAIGN — Traffic has reopened in the 100 block of East Green Street in Champaign following a water main break.

Illinois American Water worked with the city of Champaign and Broeren Russo to reopen one lane of traffic in both the eastbound and westbound lanes. The street had been closed earlier on Wednesday.

Kris Koester, the spokesman for Champaign Public Works, said Wednesday morning the cause of the break was unknown.
