Workshop planned for parents of those with disabilities moving to adulthood

DANVILLE — The Vermilion County Transition Planning Committee is holding a workshop for parents and guardians of children with disabilities aimed at helping them make a smooth transition from high school to adulthood.

The workshop will be held April 16 at the Bremer Center at Danville Area Community College, 2000 E. Main St.

Desserts will be served at 5:30 p.m., and information sessions will be held from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.

Space is limited.

Organizers said young people with disabilities may encounter challenges that other people may not experience during this transition time. They said planning for significant changes should start as early as possible.

The workshop will cover topics such as guardianship and legal issues. There will be a panel presentation by young adults with disabilities and information from area service providers.

To register or get more information, call Terri Tate at 443-8273 or Lori Burnett at 444-1514.
