Six-year prison term for weapons plea

URBANA — A Champaign man who had guns and drugs in his home earlier this year has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Tyren L. Scott, 24, who listed an address in the 1500 block of Holly Hill Drive, pleaded guilty Thursday before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to unlawful possession of weapons by a felon.

Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar said because of two prior felony convictions for aggravated battery, Scott is not allowed to possess weapons.

Lozar said two guns were found in Scott's room in his Holly Hill house on Jan. 15 by Champaign police, who went there with a search warrant looking for guns and drugs.

They also found a small amount of heroin.

Lozar said Scott also had a prior conviction for resisting a peace officer.
